NCCC Autocross Racing

NCCC organizes sanctioned autocross racing events for points. Each driver competes against others with similar cars and modifications. There are men and women categories. Click here for more information about NCCC Autocross rules, guidelines and car categories. On this page, we'll talk about all the details of each track, how the car was set up and how we did each race day. Currently, we compete in St. Augustine, Palm Bay and Brooksville.

What is Autocross?

Autocross is a simple, safe and relatively inexpensive form of racing. Typically, events are held in wide open spaces, such as large parking lots or inactive airstrips. A cone course is set up and the objective is to get through the course as quickly as possible without missing any turns or knocking over any cones. Only one car goes at a time, so there is little chance for a crash. There are no track walls to hit, so even if you loose control, the worst that will happen is that you'll spin till you stop (in most cases). Wear and tear is hardest on your tires and brakes. Since each run is relatively short, your car will not have to endure long periods of hard acceleration and braking. Each run is about a minute long, on average. Typically, there are 6 or 7 runs in the morning session and another 6 or 7 in the afternoon. That's only about 15 minutes of hard driving. Your daily commute to work can be more dangerous!
