NCCC autocrossing requires only one bit of equipment; a helmet. You don't have to spend a fortune. Looking online there are helmets that are several hundred to thousands of dollars. No need to go that far. For NCCC, your helmet needs to be Snell approved and no more than 10 years old. We picked up HJC helmets at Seminole Power Sports. Cool graphics, comfortable and with a full face, we can use them for go kart racing as well. All for less than $150 each. Not bad.
The coolest thing that came with the helmet was an antifog insert for the visor. Its a softer material that attaches to the inside of the visor and prevents fog from gathering and obscuring your view. I thought it was a gimmick. Not so. You can literally close the helmet vents, close the visor, hyperventilate and never see any fog. I'm a believer. Check out Pinlock online for more!
